Friday \u2013 last day of Ukulele lessons, last day of Haliburton School of the Arts (this year).<\/p>\n

Yesterday, we worked hard at our repertoire in preparation for our mini concert today. We chose 5 pieces \u2013 Feeling Groovy (strumming chords), Lavender\u2019s Blue (picking notes), My Girl (picking notes and strumming chords), Latin Time (picking notes), You Ain\u2019t Going Nowhere (strumming chords) \u2013 and practiced all of them several times.<\/p>\n

As it was Thursday, it was special guest entertainment time at the main campus and this week it was Eve Goldberg<\/a>, an international singer\/songwriter AND my Ukulele teacher!\u00a0 Almost the entire class was there to cheer her on although, she\u2019s so used to performing, I don\u2019t think she really needed us.\u00a0 She was great \u2013 played all songs she had written herself, on guitar, her go-to instrument, and 3 old-time favourites on the Uke.\u00a0 We were well-placed in the front row and thoroughly enjoyed her hour.<\/p>\n

Our concert today, was a great success.\u00a0 We shlepped our chairs, music stands, music, and ukes to an open area outside of the cafeteria (we were in the high school) and played for about 20 minutes, entertaining other students on their way to lunch.\u00a0 I thought we were pretty good and our audience was enthusiastic (or just polite).\u00a0 Regardless, Steve video-taped it!!!\u00a0 Can\u2019t wait to see\/hear us and I\u2019ll be sure to come back to this post and add a link to U-Tube in the near future for your listening pleasure.\u00a0 In the meantime, he snapped a quick picture with his iPhone…<\/p>\n

Last night, I cooked up almost everything that was left in the fridge so we had another dinner out tonight.\u00a0 This time, we headed to Minden and ended up at the Dominion Hotel (which is really a bar\/restaurant\/patio).<\/p>\n

We sat on the patio (to the right, behind the lattice wall) and were entertained by two country singers who were set up across the street at a temporary outdoor venue.\u00a0 Seems the town closes down this small section of road every Friday night in the summer so they can bring in singers to play from 7pm to dusk.\u00a0 Our luck… they were very good.<\/p>\n

We are back at our bunky, tired.\u00a0 We will pack up and head home tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
