Today, we were up early to say goodbye to our friends 🙁
Laundry day! I figured out how to use the washing machine, which took approx 1.5 hours to run through an eco cycle – yikes! I seem to remember the washer in Villers la Faye taking the same, long time. Must be how they’re manufactured in Europe, as they are supposed to be eco-friendly.
Once I got our laundry all sorted out on the “dryer”, we were off again, this time to Treguier, about 15km away. Our intent was to check out the old town after our picnic by the river, but it was too windy and cold. We will do that another day. Instead, we drove back along all the teeny coastal side roads. What took us 30 minutes to get to, took us 4 hours to get home!!! But that’s how we roll…
There is usually always a reward for “let’s try this road” and today did not disappoint. After a few stops to gaze at the sea, we discovered Le Gouffre – The Gulf – the nationally protected northern most tip of mainland Brittany on the Plougrescant peninsula. Another spectacularly wild, rugged coastline that delivered. Between the blustery winds and the incoming tide, I got some pretty good pictures of angry waves crashing against determined rocks. Oh, and the house built into the rocks that shows up in tourist brochures – “Castel Meur”.
As (bad) luck would have it, and because we are still struggling with all this daylight (I am not complaining, just stating a fact), we showed up at a couple of restaurants just as they were closing (on a Monday night) at 8:30. We defrosted some leftover spaghetti and tucked into a bottle of Burgundy. Life continues to be good in Brittany.
